Mammoth Ski Season 2026-27: Opening Day, Tips and Where to Stay

Mammoth opens for the 2026-27 season on November 13
Mammoth Mountain has announced Friday, November 13, 2026 as opening day for the 2026-27 ski and snowboard season. As always, the exact date and how much terrain opens depend on early-season snow and cold temperatures, so check Mammoth's website and snow report the week before you come.
When to come
- Early season (mid-November to mid-December): fewer crowds and lower lodging rates. Expect a limited number of runs, mostly on the main lifts, until the big storms arrive.
- Holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas to New Year's, MLK and Presidents' Day weekends): the busiest weeks of the year. Book lodging early and plan to ride the shuttle rather than hunt for parking.
- January to March: usually the deepest snow and the best all-around conditions.
- Spring (April onward): sunny days, soft snow and après on the deck. Mammoth often stays open late into spring, and in big snow years into summer.
Lift tickets and passes
- Mammoth is on the Ikon Pass, so Ikon holders can ski here. Check your pass tier for blackout dates.
- If you are buying day tickets, buy online ahead of time. Prices at Mammoth change by date and usually go up as the day gets closer.
- June Mountain, about 30 minutes north, is a quieter, family-friendly mountain that is also on the Ikon Pass.
Getting around without your car
- The free Red Line town shuttle stops right in front of Sierra Manor and runs to the Village, where the gondola goes up the mountain.
- The Green Line to Eagle Lodge is half a block away. Winter schedules are posted by Eastern Sierra Transit.
- Bring 4WD or snow chains. Chain controls are common on Highway 395 and around town during storms.
